Poly Crepe De Chine Project

Here is project #1.  I used the Poly Crepe De Chine.  The print is "Balance" by scrummy.  The Poly Crepe De Chine is so very beautiful.  It is soft and thin.  When it first arrived, I fell in love, but I had (still have) no idea what to do with it in the real world.  I would love a skirt or a shirt, but the fabric is so very thin anything I make will need to be lined, but then I lose the feel of it on my skin!  What to do?  My next thought was of a nightgown.

Challenging Myself With Sewing Up Some Spoonflower Freebies

For the last year-ish, Spoonflower has been sending out free samples when they start selling a new type of fabric.  The consumer gets to pick the design, and Spoonflower prints it on whatever the new fabric is, and they send out an 8" x 8" sample.  No shipping.

 

I have been hoarding these samples for awhile as I have no idea what to do with an 8' x 8" square of any type of fabric except put it in a quilt.  I don't want to do that, besides, the fabrics I have samples of don't really lend themselves to quilting.

Skirting The Issue 2015

This year I made 5 skirts for Skirting the Issue.  I will be donating these to Florence Crittenton Services - they help teen mothers continue and finish school.  They are having a school supply drive for the teenage mothers they serve and are accepting children's clothing as well.  Here is a link to their wish list if you are interested in helping out: click here.

 

Vogue Pattern 1050 continued... and more...

I sorta finished the vintage pants.  No hem yet.  

They are supposed to be mid calf length, but I'm short, so they are regular length.  I will fix that when I hem them.  They don't fit perfect, but I think I know how to fix that for the next time around.  However, I have put this pattern on hold.  The waistband was quite difficult for me, so I am moving on to other patterns.

Vogue Pattern 1050

Last night I cut out Vogue Pattern 1050.  I purchased this pattern years ago.  Fear has kept me from making it.  The last time I made a garment from a Vogue Pattern, I was probably in high school.  They were always so difficult for me to understand.  This time, I am making notes, and it will hopefully be a smooth process.

 

 

Robin's Hood #2 or Will Scarlet's Hood

I love this one.  For some reason, it makes me think more of Will Scarlet though.  It is made out of interlock knit.  It will not be warm in winter.  I hand sewed X's across some of the seams.  Lace-up front again.  It's awesome.  I will be making more of these.

Robin's Hood

The past few weeks have been full of searching and sewing.  First, I had to find the right fabric so that I could make Robin's Hood.  I touched so many fabrics hoping to know by feel alone.  I touched one at Colorado Fabrics that was sueded.  It was cheap.  I took it to the cut counter and asked the woman what it was.  Polyester.  Along with that, I bought a medioum weight knit in the hopes of making another Robin's Hood.
