Summer of No Pants 2014 - Post #2

I finally finished my first dress for Summer of No Pants 2014!  This is the Naomi from Kay Whitt.  You can find the pattern here.  I love Kay Whitt's patterns and have made quite a few over the last two years or so.  I found this one challenging.  I struggled with the bias trim under the sleeves and with the waistband. I am usually mini skirt or ankle skirt kinda woman, but I made this one fall just below the knee.

I haven't kept up with wearing a skirt everyday, but I also haven't worn any real pants either.

I found Sew Serendipity when I started sewing again a couple of years ago.  I was amazed at how easy the patterns were to follow.  I am currently amazed that over the years of me using patterns (26 or so) the major pattern makers continue to make the MOST confusing patterns.  For some reason, I still buy them when they are on sale.  I will continue to buy Kay Whitt's patterns.  They are wonderful.  I am not sure why this time around I struggled so much.  I don't know if you can see it in the photos but the fabric on the bodice has food on it, the waistband is red and white check, and the skirt is flowers.  I wish I could remember the name of the collection!

I will be working on a quilt next.  Tomorrow's post will be about quilting and music.  I sewed most of this dress in front of the TV.  Yuck.
