Madison Clutch Sewalong - Day 4 - DONE!

Woohooooooo!!!!! We are almost done.

First up, let's baste our tab in.  Did I tell you?  The tab being out of cork was a HUGE mistake.  What a Pain.  It was so thick and miserable.  

This should be step 15.  Step 16 is to pull the lining and outer away from each other, and right sides together.  This also hurt my brain for some reason.  Line up the sides nicely.  Then you want to sew all the way around the outside but leave 5" - 6" open on the lining side.  MAKE SURE you backstitch on the short parts at the bottom.  This takes on some stress when we turn it.  I then take my project to the ironing board and I iron the SA away from each other where the opening in the bottom is.  This makes it easier to sew together in the end.

The pattern suggests a triple stitch which I did not do, but since my tab was so thick and sewing it sucked so bad, I ran over that sucker a couple of times.  Now, we need to box the corners.  You need to squish them flat and centered.  This is usually easy for the lining and more difficult for the outer.  I use a clip to keep things lined up.

Sew across those corners at 1/4" SA.

I know it looks terrible, but nobody will see that part because we are about to turn it inside out!  Reach in the hole and grab onto the tab and gently pull until you get it right side out.  I used cork, so there was not a lot of gentle going on.

Now you just need to poke all the corners out and stitch up the opening.  Some people hand sew this part.  Not this girl.

We are done!  

Major Pitfalls: My piping PLUS cork means nothing lined up for me.  My sides are a mess.
