"I Want My Hat Back..."
I used a lot of techniques in this quilt.
I stressed so much when I thought about quilting the sheets. I knew what I wanted to do, but I did not know how to actually do it on my set-up. In my head, I had a deadline at the end of December. That came and went and for multiple reasons the quilt sat unfinished.
It was hard to know I didn't know how to proceed. A couple of weeks ago it came to me. I needed to tie the sheets. It crossed my mind that I should tack it, but that didn't feel right, so I searched through the house for my yarn bag. The yarn bag didn't help. Wrong colors. Elsewhere in the house, I found yellow yarn. Finally, I was relieved of so much stress. Not only did I know WHAT to do, I had the materials to actually do it.
The flyers are machine quilted. The sheets are tied. The brown corner of the room is machine quilted. The t-shirt is tacked, and the jeans will be tacked. I have them free and clear now, but I don't think they will hold up for 20 years if I don't tack them.
I appliqued a hat in the corner because, "I lost my hat along the way..."
The past few weeks have been fairly emotional, and I am thankful for this win. I sent off an e-mail to try to get an auction rolling. I will put the quilt up on ebay and donate all the money. As soon as it's up, I'll post the link.
Have you listened to the song yet?
